Creative Therapy

Some children, teenagers and adults do not feel that ‘playing’ with symbols or sand is suitable for them, yet, may struggle to put their difficulties into the words required for talking therapies. Therefore, Creative therapy helps individuals express themselves and partake in therapy using a variety of creative mediums like paints, paper, and clay or singing, dancing, storytelling, talking and acting.  Individuals choose one approach or use a variety of approaches to reflect their needs at the time by creating or doing whatever they choose whilst being supported by the therapist.  In Creative Therapy, it is the journey that the individual takes through the session(s) that enables them to explore, heal, and develop new skills and self-awareness rather than the ‘final’ product or medium they choose to use.

Creative Therapy is often helpful for individuals struggling with social challenges, such as social media, peers, friends or family or those who have experienced trauma or challenging times in their lives, like bereavement, adoption or divorce.
