Where I Work

Therapy can be provided in a range of locations. The therapy space provides optimum resources, online offers a home-based service, Nature offers the resources our natural world can provide and at alternative locations/schools a travelling play kit offers therapy with added convenience.

Teenager sat in front of a computer screen with headphones on interacting with a male therapist who is visible on the computer screen.
Children and adults stood outside a school building with a zebra crossing in the foreground. The back of a red bus is visible on the road next to the crossing.

This is my therapy room, a calm, safe, and welcoming space carefully designed to help children feel secure, comfortable, and free to explore their thoughts and feelings through play and creativity.

A‍ims & Outcomes

Therapy is focused on supporting meaningful and lasting change in the individual’s emotional, relational, and behavioural functioning. The aim is not to “fix” behaviour in isolation, but to build internal capacity, emotional understanding, and safer ways of relating to others and the world.

Progress is understood as individual, relational, and developmental. It is reviewed continuously throughout the therapeutic process and considered within the context of the child’s environment, experiences, and support systems, rather than measured in isolation.‍ ‍

About Me

I am a qualified Play Therapist with a Master’s degree in Play Therapy and a Master’s in Special Educational Needs, with a particular focus on autism and child development. I support children, families, and schools with emotional, behavioural, and wellbeing challenges, including neurodiversity, trauma, and difficulties with confidence, relationships, and regulation, through a calm, child-led, play-based creative approach, while also working closely with parents and professionals to build more connected, supportive environments where children can feel safe, understood, and able to thrive.

All costs are kept to a minimum, including session fees and any additional services, are set out transparently, so you know exactly what to expect before starting.

Horizon Play Therapy is unfortunately unable to offer funding for therapy at this time, but works with a range of organisations and charities who can offer funding in certain circumstances e.g. domestic abuse, adoption support.

Horizon Play Therapy can work with schools to identify unique therapy options to suit both the school’s needs and budgets available, including staff training.

Further Information

Confidentiality

Sessions are confidential to support trust and emotional safety. Safeguarding responsibilities are always prioritised. Information will only be shared with consent, except where:

  • There are concerns about the safety of the individual or others

  • There is a legal or safeguarding requirement to share information

Note: The individual’s therapeutic space is respected. This means that while general themes, progress, and important observations may be shared with agreed/relevant individuals, the details of what is expressed in sessions remains confidential in order to protect trust and emotional safety within the therapeutic relationship. This balance ensures that individuals feel safe in their sessions, while parental guardians, funders and other professionals remain informed and supported in a meaningful and appropriate way.

Consent

Therapy can only begin with appropriate consent from the individual(s) and/or parental guardian(s). Where appropriate, children and young people are involved in giving their consent/ agreement to attend. Direct therapy may not commence without this agreement, however parental support/ family therapy can be an appropriate initial step.

Attendance and Cancellations

Regular attendance is essential for therapy to be effective. Sessions are booked at a regular weekly time. Notice is required for cancellations. Frequent cancellations or non-attendance is detrimental and may lead to therapy being ceased. Further details are discussed at the point of booking.
